The ambassador of People's Republic of China in Vanuatu, Liu Quan received on Saturday 19 August a gift of traditional pottery from Wusi on West Coast of Santo.
Prime Minister Charlot Salwai presented the gift to Mr Liu Quan as token of appreciation of the people of Vanuatu to the People's of the Republic of China for their contribution to the development of infrastructures in Vanuatu.
Wusi is one the isolated areas in Vanuatu but very well known for its traditional pottery. It is the only village in Vanuatu to make traditional pottery.
The people in the village have maintained the traditional knowledge of their ancestors until today. They have exhibited their knowledge in past country's art festivals. They can make potteries in different sizes and forms. They also used them to cook their foods. People who tested their cooked foods during art festival in Port Vila said at that foods are more testy than foods cooked in imported pots.
