Good morning to you and your delegation.

Your Excellency, Welcome to the Republic of Vanuatu.

It is indeed a great honor and privilege for me today as the Acting President of the Republic of Vanuatu to warmly welcome you as Ambassador of Switzerland to Vanuatu.

Let me on behalf of the Government and the People of the Republic of Vanuatu; convey our warmest greetings to you and your good family and our best wishes for the good health through you to H.E Doris Leuthard, President of Switzerland.

Switzerland is one of the wealthiest nation in Europe and has one of the world’s highest standard of living. Vanuatu is an Island State among the developing countries in the South Pacific Region have yet to learn from many economic and technological advancement of Switzerland.

Vanuatu and Switzerland are good friends since the establishment of our diplomatic relationship dated back in May 1981.

Your Excellency, the many benefits both countries attained over the years, is a testimony of the stronger link and good healthy working relationship we have established over the years and the soon establishment of the Vanuatu Mission in Switzerland will certainly strengthening our future diplomatic friendship.  

Through our stronger diplomatic relation, the government and the people of Vanuatu have received financial assistance from your government during and after passing of the TC-PAM and more so the ongoing support in addressing the adverse effect of climate change in Vanuatu including the Pacific island states. At this juncture, I wish to convey our most profound gratitude to the government and the People of Switzerland for their kind assistance to the Government and the People of Vanuatu.

Your Excellency, I understand that more than twenty (20) international organizations are headquartered in your country  and both Vanuatu and Switzerland  are members of this international organization including members to the Organization International de la Francophonie.

We all agree that both of our countries including Pacific Island Countries will continue to work more closely in furthering peace, security and prosperity including mitigating the impact of climate change for our people nationally, regionally and internationally.

Excellency, I have no doubt that your personal and professional contribution in the management of the switzerland program to Vanuatu and the overall multi-lateral and bilateral relations will lay the necessary foundation for an improved and mutually beneficial working relations between the two countries during your terms.

Your Excellency, in closing, I am honoured and privileged to accept you and your delegation to my office today and I look forward to working closely with you in furthering the relationship between our two countries and for the benefit of our two peoples.
