Prime Minister Charlot Salwai signed the afternoon of Thursday, March 29, 2018 with the Ambassador of China to Vanuatu. The agreement with the Government of China to build a new home for the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, a new building for the Ministry of Finance and extend the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Chinese Ambassador said that these 3 buildings, are the most important buildings of Vanuatu and his government, he is delighted to give them money. He said that in two years, Vanuatu will celebrate these 40 years of independence and it is important for Vanuatu to have these three new buildings. The Chinese Ambassador said that this year there will be the opening of a big project that the Chinese government was giving the fund. This project is the new buildings of the college of Malapoa. When completed, Malapoa College will be the largest educational complex in the South Pacific region.
Prime Minister Salwai thanked China for helping with the construction of these three buildings. He goes on to say that in past years, the Government of Vanuatu is not part of the project design for contributing countries and now the government is already making its decision and they agree to design it before the start of construction. .
Mr. Salwai said that the government he heads today will continue to maintain a strong and good relationship with the Chinese government.
